my heart {personal}

As the weather gets cooler I think back over the summer and all the fun that was had by myself and my family. One of my all time favorite things to do during the summer is head to the river. For anyone that lives in the central Virginia area, you know heading to the James river is a part of life and a summer staple for beating the heat. For me it is a place of adventure  and exploration and my goal each time I visit is to find a heart shaped rock. It is hard but possible.

As a young child one of the first times we took my step daughter to the river we found a heart shaped rock and it has been a summer tradition in our family ever since. Fast forward almost 10 years and I am still so excited every time I find one of these specials rocks to add to the collection. 

The river plays a very important role in my life since we lost someone very special in a tragic accident 12 years ago, in the river. So the heart shaped rocks for me are symbolic to the love we have for the person we lost. 

Even after tremendous loss we have been able to find purpose in life and every day we are greatful for those around us. Be thankful and happy. Find the little things in life to celebrate and show the ones you love your heart.
